Musket Smoke on iPhone 6 plus

Musket Smoke is now available for iPhone.  I personally do not have one of these big cool phablets yet but I’m still pumped for those of you who do.  Or any iPhone except for perhaps iPhone 4’s.  iPhone 4’s did not fare well with Musket Smoke testing.  I haven’t tried the 4s.  I’m currently on a 5s and it runs great on that device.

We got our first iPhone 6 plus sale (Naarden) on day one.  That was cool.  🙂

I was initially hoping to launch Musket Smoke II on the iPhone first but I changed my mind recently and decided this might be a better move for Musket Smoke II. Making these games is ALSO a strategy game.  🙂

The 1.57 update also adds a mortar to the river battle in the Naarden Campaign.  There is also a bug fix that corrects the initial army sizes for campaign battles (as displayed in the end round dialog).

If you want to help support this new iOS battle front then nothing would be more appreciated than a 1.57 review in the App store.  If you have already reviewed then feel free to say the same thing again.  We just need to show these new iPhone downloaders that Musket Smoke has existing fans.  Veterans who love to battle!

Merry Christmas!

Sorry for the lack of updates.  I have been working feverishly on Musket Smoke II and presentation stuff.

The Musket Smoke Classic 1.57 iPhone update missed the Dec 22 cutoff.  Apple doesn’t review or do anything between Dec 22 and Dec 29 so that’s an extra 8 days we all have to wait for the update to be reviewed and accepted.  It turns out for snowpunch this is good news as I wanted to align the MS update with a preview announcement of Musket Smoke II.

So now I have more time to get that ready.  🙂

Thanks for playing and I hope the update (when it finally arrives) gives us more opponents to battle.  I have a feeling that 2015 will be a good year.

Happy Holidays!

Musket Smoke update submitted with iPhone support!

On December 15th, 2014 a Musket Smoke 1.57 update was submitted to Apple.  This update included iPhone support.

If you own an iPhone 6 this will be especially sweet.  The update was tested on the following devices.  iPhone 4, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 plus (also various iPads).  I found the game ran pretty slick on the iPhone 5s and above, but you still need to pinch, zoom and pan around a lot – even when watching the previous players replays.  A small price to pay for such mobility.

If you are new to Musket Smoke it might help to know that a ‘double-tap’ on the map will toggle the top-bar and allow you to ‘end turn’.  There is a button in the top right corner but the double tap is a nicer way get there.  (If you move all your units the top bar drops down automatically.)

Musket Smoke was designed first for iPad. This was always the plan as I didn’t want to compromise the first class iPad experience. If your first experience with Musket Smoke in on an iPhone then those of you who also have an iPad can look forward to an upgraded user experience on your bigger device.  Older iPad players will find the change odd at first but after a few rounds you will find it does the job and will appreciate the chance to play a few rounds when you are away from your iPad and have some time to kill.

There is one minor issue I missed with this update.  When you move back and forth between devices – sometimes the online match list does not automatically update.  However, if you drag the list down then it updates properly.

Thanks for playing!
